1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: Email address and Google account ID obtained via Google Sign-In. We do not store passwords.
  • Payment information: Processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your credit card details.
  • Usage data: Credit balance and job metadata (file names, duration, processing status).
  • Technical data: App version, operating system, and error logs for debugging purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the audio separation service
  • To process payments and manage your credit balance
  • To communicate with you about your account or service updates
  • To improve the App and develop new features
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

3. Audio Processing

Your video files never leave your computer. The App extracts the audio track locally and sends only the audio to our servers for processing. We do not store your audio after processing is complete and the result has been delivered.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Payment processors: To handle transactions securely.
  • Cloud infrastructure providers: To process your audio.
  • Analytics providers: PostHog (EU-hosted) for product analytics in the desktop app and backend. Google Analytics 4 for website analytics (opt-in only).
  • Law enforcement: When required by law or to protect our rights.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), OAuth-based authentication via Google, and secure infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained until you delete your account.
  • Audio is deleted immediately after processing - we never store it.
  • Payment records are retained as required by law.
  • Usage logs are retained for up to 12 months.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format

8. Cookies and Analytics

Desktop App

The desktop App uses local storage to maintain your session and preferences. It uses PostHog for product analytics to help us understand how the App is used and to diagnose issues. PostHog data is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt). We track actions such as job submissions, feature usage, and errors - we do not record screen content, keystrokes, or audio data. Your email and user ID are linked to analytics events so we can provide support when issues occur.

Website

The website (soundscrub.video) uses two categories of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary: Required for basic site functionality and cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics 4): We use Google Analytics to count visitors, see which pages are popular, and understand how people find SoundScrub. Data includes anonymized IP addresses, approximate location, device type, referrer, and pages visited. We do not sell this data. Analytics cookies are only loaded after you explicitly accept them.

You can accept, reject, or change your cookie preferences at any time via the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer. Rejecting analytics cookies does not affect site functionality.

Backend

Our backend uses PostHog (EU-hosted) to track events such as account creation, job processing outcomes, and payment completions. This data is used to monitor service health, debug failures, and improve the product. No audio content or file data is sent to analytics.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
